Topic A _ You and Export |
Question 1: Should I export? Answer: If you will increase your net profit by exporting; without straining your resources, then it is worth investigating further. |
Question 2: Is it difficult to export? Answer: Some products have more restictions placed on them than others for varying and different reasons. For instance: Fresh produce would require a phytosanitary certificate to be issued after an inspection by the Directorate: Plant and Quality Control. Without such a certificate the importer’s home country would not allow the produce entry. All these restrictions are there for a reason and as long as you comply with all rules and regulations, exporting your product can be profitable. |

Topic B - What do you need? |
Question 1: Is my product exportable? Answer: You need an exportable product: something wanted in sufficient quantities and of a quality you can provide, to make it worth your while to spend time, money and effort to make it available wherever the demand is. Finding out whether your product fits these criteria is your first priority. |
Question 2: What resources shall I have to invest? Answer: In the beginning mostly your or an assistant’s time to do initial research and of course a higher phone bill. Once you decide to export, a trained staff member and dedicated office equipment will become necessary: phone line, computer with modem and printer, filing system and even a table and chair. Additional continuous communication between management, the export division and production and quality control departments will be necessary. |

Topic C: Intradex |
Question 1: What does Intradex do? Answer: We are participating consultants in international trade. Our primary focus is in assisting South African companies who wish to enter the export market. |
Question 2: Yeah. But what do you really do? Answer: We do the initial research to determine export viability. We market your product on the internet with adverts and your own web site. We administrate your product’s export - determining a price with buyers, finalising orders, organising payment and freight forwarding with all relevant paperwork and documents and seeing to it that the transaction and delivery is finalised satisfactorily. We are your out-sourced export division at half of the cost and a fraction of the effort of an in-house department. |
